At the Black Hills Regional Eye Institute, we have vast experience treating a variety of retinal conditions in Rapid City. Dr. Prema Abraham and the other physicians of the Retina Center at the Eye Institute have extensive training and skill in caring for patients with many different types of retinal conditions, which allows us to offer a full range of retinal services to our patients.

Cornea Center
A damaged or diseased cornea can cause enormous vision problems and even blindness. For those individuals in need of a corneal transplant, the Black Hills Regional Eye Institute of Rapid City offers a multitude of procedures and techniques to meet the needs of almost any patient. Our team of expert physicians has years of training and experience performing corneal transplants using a variety of approaches. During a personal consultation at the Eye Institute, one of our doctors will evaluate your case and determine the proper course of treatment.
Corneal Surgeries
During a corneal transplant, the patient’s damaged or diseased cornea is repaired or replaced with donated corneal tissue. There are a variety of corneal transplant procedures available depending on the needs of the patient.

Glaucoma Center
Glaucoma refers to a group of eye conditions in which increased fluid pressure inside the eye causes irreversible damage to the optic nerve. The optic nerve is responsible for carrying visual information from the eye to the brain. If left untreated, procedures/glaucoma will eventually lead to blindness; according to Google Health, procedures/glaucoma is the second most common cause of blindness in the United States, and first worldwide. Glaucoma can affect anyone at any age. While there is still no actual cure for glaucoma, Rapid City’s Black Hills Regional Eye Institute does offer treatment options to slow, stop, and in some cases reverse the effects of the disease.
