Reading Glasses or Kamra
In life we celebrate firsts; first steps, first kiss, the first time driving a car. These are memorable moments and things we will remember for years to come. However, there is one first most of us would like to forget… The first time we had to reach for the reading glasses.
It’s an unavoidable fact that as we age, we can experience changes in our vision. The optometric terminology for your eyes not seeing things as well close anymore is, presbyopia. Presbyopia is caused by age and is the gradual loss of the eyes ability to focus on nearby objects. Eyeglasses are the number one treatment of presbyopia, but many people dread having to wear their “readers.”
Maybe you hate having to carry around glasses all the time, or you are constantly breaking or bending your glasses. Or the most common symptom of presbyopia; a snarky teenage son or daughter laughing at you when you break out the bifocals at Applebee’s to read what’s on the 2 for $20 this month. Whatever your reason there is a way to avoid all the hassle of reading glasses.
KAMRA Inlay is a procedure that is aimed at improving your vision loss caused by aging. An inlay that is smaller and thinner than a contact lens is placed in one of your eyes (usually the non-dominant), this inlay helps focus light that enters the eye to improve your close-up vision, while your other eye is still effective in seeing longer distances. In a procedure lasting about 15 minutes your vision could be restored to the way it was back before you hit the big 4-0.
