What if my eye moves during my LASIK surgery?

October 21, 2011 @ 09:48 AM — by Scott Schirber, OD

One of the technical advances of iLASIK is a unique tracking technology, called Iris Registration.  This technology maps out the iris (the colored part of the eye) and “locks” onto the iris with a camera so that any movements of the eye during the procedure are taken into account.  This improves the results of custom-wavefront guided treatment and reduces the fear-factor for many patients.  Iris Registration tracks your eye as it moves left to right, up and down, and also any movement from breathing.
